Healthcare “Heroes:” They’re Helping Us, But Who is Helping Them?
In the past year, we’ve saluted healthcare workers for being on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic and hailed them as heroes for saving lives and caring for the critically ill. While the praise helped to raise their spirits in the early days of the pandemic, an overwhelming toll has been experienced by many of them as they face continued surges of the virus and uncertainty around when this immensely challenging period in time will end.

Healthcare professionals carry this incredible burden on top of extended work hours, isolation from family, and worry for their own lives and livelihoods.

This webinar will take a deeper look at the challenges facing healthcare professionals, especially as they relate to mental health and substance use disorder. We will provide practical solutions that are most effective for healthcare professionals from inpatient treatment to outpatient treatment and beyond.

Learning Objectives:
1. Define the challenges facing healthcare professionals since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and how they have taken a toll on physical, mental and spiritual health.
2. Identify trends in how healthcare professionals are dealing with the added stressors of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially as it relates to mental health and substance use disorder.
3. Understand how a peer-driven, immersive treatment experience for mental health and substance use disorder may be effective in helping healthcare professionals.
4. Outline methods for ongoing recovery of healthcare professionals, including aftercare planning and outpatient treatment.
